All classes are held at the Kemptville Fabric Shoppe, 31 Clothier St E. Kemptville, Ontario.

21 fat quarters and some background fabric is all you need to make this slightly larger than lap quilt. Here are two colour options to inspire you.

Choose any block or all of them. Your choice.
You can make a sampler quilt as pictured or with any number of these blocks or even just one. Some of them would look quite nice with just one block repeated.
You choose how many and what days and times you would like to take your classes based on your availability and time at home to complete.

This quilt class is an easy way to progress with your piecing. This quilt uses HST and corner triangle piecing. You will also be taught how to quilt and bind as well.

Quilt as you go - Crazy squares pattern

Learn the quilt as you go method while learning the crazy squares pattern. This 3 week course will teach you a new pattern and a new quilting technique.
4-patch Kaleidoscope
3 Tuesday afternoons 2-4pm

This is a 4-piece square that uses a repeating pattern to produce something completely different. Size depends on the fabric you choose.
Chevrons

Kids March Break Beginner Sewing

Geared towards kids under 10 but any child older can attend. Learn how to sew simple projects. Make the bag and pencil case or tablet case shown here or , for the older kids, the apron and place mats shown below.
Will need to bring in your machine as this will enable the child to know how to use their own machine.
Aunt Rachel's Star

The easy star that makes up this quilt top can be made in different sizes by beginning with 2”, 3” or 4” Half-square Triangle units. The sample has been made with 4” units and finishes 66” x 82” with the added borders. Bordering all the way around makes an 82” x 82” Queen.
A great scrappy quilt or you an use yardage to make a truly unique quilt.
Block Party
6 weeks in two 3 week sessions 7pm - 9pm
Curious about quilt block assembly techniques? Like curves? or paper piecing? or multiple points? The
difference between traditional and modern? This class allows you to explore a variety of techniques
while producing one block per night. Information will be given about how to turn them into a sampler
quilt, but you can relax and enjoy the ride one block at a time if you prefer.

Great little table runner pattern. Leaves can be paper pieced or not. Which ever you prefer. Can be coloured for any season.
Pet Frenzy

Learn to paper piece while constructing dog and/or cat blocks from the Dog Daze/Feline Frenzy pattern. The pattern includes instructions to finish the blocks into a quilt and is covered in the price of the class.
Crazy Triangles

A great way to use jelly-rolls, scraps, or memento fabrics like old flannel shirts. Use 12 blocks to make a 56” x 70” quilt, or 20 to finish 70” x 84”.

Bear in the cabin
$ Includes fabric for the log cabin and the multi-coloured border.

Enjoy making this quilt from the combination of two traditional blocks: Log Cabin and Bear's Paw. The sample features a collection of rainbow solids used in the Log Cabins, the Paws and one border. A kit containing this rainbow can be purchased ahead of the class to be cut into the necessary pieces for the Log Cabins and the border. You choose the Paws.
This class will not be putting the bear on it.
Conquering Curves

Do you dread piecing curved blocks? Have you heard that it is difficult and frustrating?
Learn to conquer the curved block with tips and tricks to make it simple!
In this class we will learn to make one curved block that can be used to create countless beautiful designs. Learn template construction, cutting and piecing curves to create a fun sampler style quilt.
Basket Weave Batiks
Saturday, March 23rd
10am-4pm
Easy enough for a Beginner, and a great way to showcase a collection of batiks. The rectangles in the weave are big enough to show off large patterns so you can show off your love of cats, butterflies, or what have you.
Paper Piecing

Learn how to paper piece while constructing a simple scotty block. The fabric kit is included and you can carry on to make more designs in the time provided.

A Walk Back in Time
Sometimes you just want to spend a day doing something simple. Here is the pattern for you: a couple of triangles, a couple of rectangles and a variety of ways to set it together. Make it old fashioned or make it modern- you will enjoy watching it grow.

Saturday 10am - 4pm
Need a quilt in a hurry? Just the right size for kids or seniors or over the back of the couch at Christmas: 40” x 40”. Pick a feature fabric for the center diamond (baby/Christmas/ biker) and use it to co-ordinate three more fabrics. Quilt it as you sew it. You are almost done already.

Easy enough for beginners and interesting enough for experienced quilters, this design features two kinds of blocks plus an optional Quarter Square Triangle border or Piano Keys border. Three sizes: lap, single and queen.
Log Cabin Special

Can you see the three kinds of Log Cabin Blocks? Learn the block construction in one class; take two weeks to sew and come back to put the quilt together. The sample: 46" x 46". Instructions available to make
80" x 80"- just tell us which size you want to make when you sign up. Want to make it scrappy as shown? Order a kit of pre-cut scrap 1 1/2" strips.
Bookshelf - Quilt as you go.

This is a "quilt as you go" project that you can personalize with your favourite photos, book titles and covers, ornaments and anything else you can imagine. We will use a variety of techniques including machine applique, decorative stitching and printing on ink-jet ready fabric.
The sample measures 40" by 58", but students can make any size from a table runner to a bed quilt.
Strips and Stars
A great way to use leftovers from other projects. Pick a feature colour, pick some stars to match, and go crazy with the strips! (You could also use a striped fabric for the strip blocks, or use a limited palette of purchased yardage- your choice.)
Four Patch Lattice
The sample: 41" x 58"
- Use 5" squares or yardage to make this simple design. Two blocks, one cut, lots of fun!
Quilt-as-you-go
Imagine finding a way to create a large quit without having to push it through the sewing machine! If you have quilted some blocks from the Four Patch Repeat class, or the Raw Edge Crazy Quilt, or are just curious about this technique, come learn how to put it all together the easy way.
Tumbling Blocks

Enjoy an evening learning to make the old-time favourite block.
Bargello
Looks hard but is easy. Come one night for cutting and sewing instructions, and one night for sub-cutting and assembling and you will have a beautiful table runner.
Crazy Squares
Learn this method of constructing “stained glass” looking squares. Quilt sizes vary- what size would you like?
Table runner striped fabric
Stripes can be a lot of fun to use in this easy pattern. This cutting technique creates table runners or placemats using wide stripes and a 60* acrylic ruler. In class, we will cut the fabrics for you to sew at home. Keeners can bring their sewing machines and start tonight!
Crazy Squares
Here is a fun crazy quilt that makes up beautifully from your theme fabrics: 12 fat quarters of cats, or cars, or Christmas, or whatever you have collected but never found a pattern to use it all in. The size of the quilt varies by the size of the blocks, which can be anything from 10" to 18".
Happy Jack
Make Jack in Halloween colours for a single block, a 9- block wall hanging, or a two-Jack table runner. Machine applique.
Raw Edge Crazy Quilt
Lovely to look at, and lovely to hold. This design is low-stress to sew, uses scraps, and is quilt-as -you go, so it is done when the sewing is done--no need to send out for quilting. Come to class to make your first two blocks.
Blazing Star
Spend a day making this 50" x 50" variation of a favourite old design. Use as the center of a larger quilt, or bind to finish.
Boston commons
Boston Commons is an old favourite with simple sewing techniques. The sample finishes approx. 52” x 55”. If you want a bigger quilt, the strips and squares are cut larger, but the sewing remains the same. No border is used.
Four Patch Repeat
From one fabric make multiple one-of-a-kind kaleidoscope blocks. Come to class to select and cut your fabric. Sew at home.
False Bargello 63” x 86”
Contemporary take on an old technique. Easy sewing for maximum effect.
6 Point Stars
The centres of the stars are kaleidoscopes made from the feature fabric by rotary cutting stacked repeats. We make the centres in class and you assemble the rest of the quilt at your leisure.
